The Walt & Mazz: a Centenary Pop-Up makes its first appearance on Friday 1 March, then moves through different parts of the city of Canberra, taking the whimsical and artistic into the architectural. The Pop-up will launch as part of the birthday weekend celebrations in March and will be an activity hub as part of the You Are Here festival.Acting as a central point for people to engage with the story of Canberra, the Walt & Mazz: a Centenary Pop-Up will be established by design collective Canberra Lab to investigate the present, explore the past and look to the future of the urban environment of our city. An exhibition, Little Moments of Canberra, will run in parallel with the Pop‑up, inviting visitors to contribute to Postcards from Canberra by drawing, writing or making their response to the city. Selected postcards will be exhibited at the next location, culminating in a final exhibition of 100 postcards for 100 years. The Pop‑up will host exhibitions and talks, serve coffee, and lots more. Canberra and its visitors will experience something new that stimulates activity and compels its audience to view a familiar context through new eyes.
