George’s Green is located in the George Brown Darwin Botanic Gardens and includes:
• The Amphitheatre
• The Pendopo

The centrepiece for the site will be our brand new open-air bandstand, the Pendopo, which will become your one-stop shop for free music, dance and the exchange of ideas.

George’s Green is an entertainment oasis for the whole family. It’s the site for the annual People's Choice Teddy Bears' Picnic and the cultural celebration Pesona Indonesia, as well as a place to come for free nightly music. Look up in our purpose-built treehouse and check out our resident Treejay, spinning some discs nightly for your listening pleasure. And don’t miss our huge African celebration on Fri 23 Aug, when Keyim Ba’s African Caravan takes over the site with their high-energy drumming and wild dance moves. George's Green is also the place to catch Tracks Dance's incredible Zombies in the Banyan Tree. In fact you never know which Festival artists will be found roving the Green looking for an audience.

If you want to whet more than just your cultural appetite you’re in the right place, with a range of food stalls on site, including the legendary Hanuman, a feast of roast duck and noodles, Greek delicacies and more. Or why not really dine in style at our Gourmet Gala on the Green under the palms.

The Amphitheatre is a focus for Festival action and the place to hear some of the biggest names in music. This year we’re also turning it into an outdoor theatre with a series of plays and cabaret shows to experience by the light of the moon. Make George’s Green your art stop this Festival.

Box office, bar and food stalls open every day, 5pm ‘til late (excluding Wed 14 Aug).

All performances are General Admission. With the exceptions of Jack Charles V The Crown, DasSHOKU Shake!, Tina C and Choir Girl, no seating is provided at The Amphitheatre, so BYO picnic blankets and chairs.
