(A Smidge of) Pidge - Melbourne Fringe Festival 2017 @ Fringe Hub: Arts House - Underground

(A Smidge of) Pidge is a one woman show about the existential dread we all feel from time to time. It asks the hard questions, such as: “Am I doing the right thing with my life?”, “Why do embarrassing things always happen to me?” and “Why does everyone hate pigeons?” Structured based on the five stages of an existential crisis and told from the point of view of a scraggly street pigeon, (A Smidge of) Pidge is made up of a series of vignettes connected by thematic through line, rather than a traditional narrative. One of the main drivers for the creation of (A Smidge of) Pidge is to investigate the different ways that people navigate the relationship between the individual and the flock. (A Smidge of) Pidge is a black comedy about identity and the anxiety that is inextricably tied to it. It fuses clowning, direct address, song and dance to show the myriad ways in which we are all simultaneously the same and very different, using comedy to ultimately celebrate the absurdity of it all.
