The Cat Empire 'Rising with the Sun' Australian...

The Cat Empire are one of Australia’s biggest bands and right now they're riding yet another crest of a wave in a career that has seen so many highs. Their new album ‘Rising With The Sun' is out, it’s debuted at #1 on the ARIA Chart, reached the Top 10 on the iTunes GLOBAL Chart and has received unanimous praise by critics around the world.

Today, The Cat Empire are excited to announce a string of new dates to add to their already incredibly received ‘Rising With The Sun’ Australian Tour. Brisbane, Gold Coast, Toowoomba, Coffs Harbour, Port Macquarie, Newcastle and Gosford it’s your turn, with dates now confirmed for May.

Due to popular demand it’s also been announced that a THIRD show has been added in Sydney at the Enmore Theatre on May 19 and a THIRD show in Melbourne at the Forum Theatre on May 28.

The ‘Rising With The Sun’ tour is shaping up to be one of the biggest Australian tours The Cat Empire have embarked on for some time. The way their new album has been embraced as well as their ongoing legacy as one of our greatest live bands continues to see the band reach new heights.

‘Rising With The Sun’ was made for the stage. The new songs have been going down a treat at festivals such as Womadelaide which saw the band perform to over 20,000 people and last weekend’s Blues Fest in Byron Bay. “There's a lot of celebration on ‘Rising With The Sun’,” said frontman Felix Riebl, “in terms of ‘celebrating’ what The Cat Empire is, and what it means to people to come to the shows and be a part of that celebration and self-abandon for a night. I don't want to make grand statements about whether it's our best album or not,… It doesn't really matter. It's true to what the band is and what has kept people coming back to our shows for quite a long time (and) that’s something that's really great.”

This is the band who in their own words “tricked pop radio into playing jazz” and went on to sell over 2 million records. They have paved their own creative path – ‘Rising With The Sun’ is their second release as a global independent band - and in the spirit of having a good time, have spent well over a decade routing tours to include their next list of desirable cities to visit. In 2016 alone The Cat Empire have already completed their first ever tour of India and will visit the United Kingdom, Canada, USA, South America and Europe.
