Snow Patrol Acoustic Tour

Snow Patrol will play their first show ahead of their 2012 Australian tour at an exclusive Take 40 Live Lounge presented by Debit MasterCard on Thursday 27 September. For fans who want more from their music experiences, this acoustic performance from Gary Lightbody, Nathan Connolly and long-time collaborator John McDaid is a unique opportunity to see them perform in an intimate environment and to get up close and personal with them in a special audience Q&A as part of the show.

Only 300 tickets will be made available to this special performance at The Standard in Sydney, which will be filmed for broadcast at a later date. This will be the first opportunity for Australian fans to hear the trio perform songs from the new album Fallen Empires in this special acoustic gig by the Irish/Scottish band. Tickets can only be purchased by Debit MasterCard cardholders as part of the ongoing Take 40 Live Lounge Debit MasterCard concert series.
“I prefer the intimate shows as I love to speak to the crowd. When the crowd is vast you feel it necessary to shout, even though one has a microphone. This does not make for an easy going chat. Saying that; big shows mean big spectacle and big noise. We like that too” says lead singer, Gary Lightbody.

Snow Patrol has sold over 11 million albums and have been responsible for several era-defining singles, including Run, Chocolate and Chasing Cars (which spent an incredible 104 weeks in the UK Top 75 and reached 3 x Platinum in Australia). Their albums have been nominated for the Mercury Music Prize, Grammys and MTV Europe Music Awards, with Final Straw landing them an Ivor Novello Award in 2005.

Their latest single Lifening comes from the album Fallen Empires, which was released last November and sees the band ‘release their inner dance monkey’. Featuring bolting distorted, electro guitar riffs, club-friendly drums and anthemic choruses to Gary’s heart-bruised lyricism, the album takes its cues from LCD Soundsystem's The Sound Of Silver, U2's Achtung Baby and Arcade Fire's The Suburbs. The band comes to Australia fresh from the Olympic Opening Ceremony Concert at Hyde Park and a tour through Asia.
The Take 40 Live Lounge launched six years ago and has presented some of Australia’s favourite international and local performers including; Adam Lambert, LMFAO, Jessie J, Panic! At the Disco, Little Red, Washington, Maroon 5, Jason Derulo, Kelly Clarkson and Good Charlotte.
