Far Away

“Your childhood instincts were right. The nightmare doesn’t stop when dreams end.”
- The New York Times

Caryl Churchill’s ‘Far Away’ has proven almost visionary in its surmise of the events of the past decade. Written in 1999, the play takes us with Joan on her journey from questioning youth into the overwhelming apathy of adulthood, in a world where all of nature is at war.

Described overwhelmingly as “chilling”, “ravishing” and “prophetic”, twelve years after its premiere the play remains as relevant now in our own Australian “far away” as ever before.

“You’re part of a big movement now to make things better. You can be proud of that. You can look at the stars and think here we are in our little bit of space, and I’m on the side of the people who are putting things right, and your soul will expand right into the sky…”
- ‘Harper‘
