Former leader of the Australian String Quartet, Sophie Rowell will take centre stage to direct a passionate journey through music in Willoughby Symphony’s A Little Night Music, 8pm, Friday 27 April and 2pm, Sunday 29 April, The Concert Hall on The Concourse, Chatswood.

Featuring a repertoire of beloved favourites, A Little Night Music will include Mozart’s quintessential classical ensemble work, Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, Villa-Lobos’ fusion of Brazilian folk and Bach in Bachinanas Brasileiras, and Schoenberg’s popular string sextet, Transfigured Night. An incredible performance, Sophie Rowell’s dazzling dexterity and technique will captivate the senses and leave you with an enhanced appreciation for this instrument.

Adelaide born violinist Sophie is a member of the Elder Trio, a founding member of the Australian String Quartet, and has performed with all major Australian symphony orchestras. The recipient of many solo prizes and competitions, including the Symphony Australia Young Performer of the Year in 2000 and Second Prize in the 1999 International Mozart Competition in Salzburg, Sophie has been a Guest Concertmaster in Jena, Germany, the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra and concerto performances with Nigel Kennedy.
