Drag! XXXmas @ The Studio - Sydney Opera House

Description:

"This is Sydney entertainment at its best. Wild, wicked, funny and out of control. The way we like it!! Who says they don't make girls the way they used to." Jimmy Barnes

The superstars of drag are back at Sydney Opera House for four glittering performances of yuletide joy in Drag! XXXmas.

Having thrilled and titillated audiences with three sold-out seasons including Camp as a Row of Spiegeltents and Drag! Camp as Christmas, Sydney’s drag divas are back for the annual fun-packed festive season of frivolity and in-your-face fabulousness.

Produced by DIVA Award-winning Amelia Airhead, this year’s show will feature some classic performances and at least 69% new material in what promises to be a sure fire hit for the Christmas party season.

“Our ongoing success has shown that good quality drag has legs,” Amelia said. “It’s been a thrill to present our world to a wider audience, to give a crash course in this glorious and mostly unseen part of Sydney’s underculture. Some folks are a little wary, thinking they’ll be pulled up on stage, but this isn’t the case, it’s about celebrating life, having a laugh and throwing your tiara in the air.”

A bona fide hit for Sydney Opera House, the show squeezes decades of colour and movement from some of Sydney's current shows, plus famous performances from the decadent past, in the intimate surrounds of The Studio.

Drag! XXXmas host and coveted DIVA Award Bitch of the Year, Portia Turbo said this show is one not to miss. “It’s like being a voyeur into what Christmas would be like if your life was 120% fabulous. There’s singing, dancing, costumes and stories – just like your Christmas at home but with no crap relatives.”

Just some of the performers returning to join Amelia and Portia on stage will be performance artist Dallas Dellaforce, comedy queen Joyce Maynge, Les Girl legend Monique Kelly, renowned superstar and choreographer Minnie Cooper and the hottest eye-candy male dancers in town.

Plus, keep an eye out for special trans-Tasman guests Tess Tickle, Buckwheat and Bertha who will reunite especially for this season.

Every queen likes a makeover so renowned designer Matthew Aberline is also back to create some new amazing cutting-edge couture for these festive season follies.

And the fun never has to stop with the bar ready to serve thirsty punters during the show, because as our drag stars say, “the more you drink, the prettier we look!”
