FisherKing + Declan Kelly & The Rising Sun National Co-Headline Tour @ Northcote Social Club

FisherKing + Declan Kelly & The Rising Sun...

FisherKing and Declan Kelly & The Rising Sun, two of Sydney’s finest up and comers, have just announced a national co-headline tour. After hitting the Sydney scene together, they’ve decided to get out on the national circuit, armed with their new releases, and let the rest of the country enjoy their individual take on blues and roots.

FisherKing: With their captivating brand of pop-laden acoustic blues and coastal roots, Sydney four piece FisherKing have had an exceptional 18 months since forming in March 2008. Their debut single The Search kicked it all off at the end of 2008, receiving widespread airplay across Australia before the band then took out the Triple J Unearthed FUSE Festival Competition in March 09. The Unearthed win saw them invited to showcase live at the Adelaide Fuse Festival and their track Smellin Roses added to rotation on Triple J.

Produced by Genevieve Maynard (bluejuice, former member of Stellar 1-11), Fisherking’s critically acclaimed self titled debut EP is in stores now through MGM. The band have been carving a slew through the Sydney live circuit including support slots for State Radio (USA), BONJAH (Melbourne) and Hey Rosetta! (Canada). The boys are currently working with Sydney fashion label Denim and Thread on a film promotion and are set to release a clip for Smellin Roses, with the EPalso being used as sound track for Global Surf Industries dealerships worldwide in-store DVD.

Declan Kelly & The Rising Sun: Winner of the Blues and Roots Act at the 2008 Music Oz Awards, Declan Kelly is an accomplished career musician who has risen through the ranks of the Australian blues and roots circuit. From playing in a duo called Slim La Beef and The Spare Ribs with Alex Lloyd at the age of just 15, to touring Australia with The Bondi Cigars, Kelly has built a performance reputation as a groove drummer, music maker, recording artist and vocalist. His list of credits include playing drums and touring across Australia and Internationally with: Michael Franti & Spearhead, Axel Whitehead, Guy Sebastian, Katie Noonan, Alex Lloyd, Paulini, Afro Moses, Jon Stevens, King Tide, Tommee and the Neighbourhood, the Bondi cigars to name just a few.

But its to his solo album “Adrift” - a pure offering in the roots reggae genre, out now through Vitamin - that all emphasis now shifts. Pared back to the bones, “Adrift” offers fans and new comers tight pacific grooves, bright timbale percussion and an irresistible blue beat feel through an earthed and urbane approach to song writing.
