A Night of Horror and Fantastic Planet Film Festivals 2013 @ Dendy Newtown Cinema


Australia's two leading genre specific film festivals are screening simultaneously at Dendy Cinema Newtown from April 11 – 21, 2013.

Prepare to engage your optical and auditory bio-sensors! Australia's leading fantastic genre film festival is in orbit, waiting to invade Dendy Cinema Newtown, from April 11 to 21. The fest's programming droids have boldly gone deep into the vortex of undiscovered genre cinema to seek out an astounding cargo of the latest and greatest sci-fi and fantasy gems. And if the terrifying, the gory, and the macabre tingle your circuits, you better set your excitement modulator to overload! Because Fantastic Planet is playing at Dendy in tandem with A Night of Horror: a festival that delivers the best and bloodiest horror cinema from Australia and the world. So no matter what your genre receptors respond to, we've got your fantastic films fix covered.

The festivals are loaded with world premiere films, parties, gala events, and even a special free online horror short film component. The fest's team are delighted with the calibre and range of this year's special international and national guests. Including: Lucas Till (HAVOK from X-MEN: CLASS FIRST), who along with Jason Trost (THE FP) are at the fest representing their two new films ALL SUPERHEROES MUST DIE and #WETANDRECKLESS. James Naylor, Canadian auteur, will be in attendance for the World Premiere of his mind-bending sci-fi thriller A DARK MATTER; as will American filmmaking duo The BAPartists and lead actress Linda Kennedy, for the world premiere of their haunting horror masterpiece THE TAKING. Australian feature directors Stephen Amis (THE 25TH REICH) and Justin Dix (CRAWLSPACE), like their international colleagues, will be partaking in Q&As at their films' screenings. Dozens of short filmmakers will also be in attendance to present their films, including the multiple award-winning American filmmaker Steven Christopher Wallace, with his new short (VENGEANCE DE LOS MUERTOS), and festival alumni Lee Arter (THE LONE WOLF).
