Be uplifted by an extraordinary evening of music and lyricism led by iconic Australian singer / songwriter Paul Kelly.This October, Paul Kelly, recorder virtuoso Genevieve Lacey and 10 young performers from the Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM) perform the world premiere of a song cycle drawn from the poetry of Yeats, Tennyson, Kenneth Slessor, Judith Wright, Les Murray and Kelly himself.Created by Kelly in collaboration with ANAM’s 2011 resident composer James Ledger, Conversations With Ghosts is a bittersweet reflection on the nature of mortality.From Yeats’ Sailing to Byzantium and Slessor’s Five Bells to Murray’s Once in a Lifetime Snow, this new work pays homage to some of the English language’s greatest poets.A unique collaboration that should not be missed.
