James Morrison (UK) Australian Tour 2012 @ Enmore Theatre

James Morrison (UK) Australian Tour 2012
Description:

After entrancing a lucky audience at his outstanding sold out performance in Sydney earlier this year; The Frontier Touring Company is delighted to announce an East Coast tour for the incredible singer-songwriter, James Morrison.

Morrison will be visiting Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane as part of ‘The Awakening World Tour’ which will see the much loved Englishman perform crowd favourites including ‘I Won’t Let You Go’, ‘You Make It Real’ and the song that started it all, ‘You Give Me Something’.

The performer is no stranger to the limelight, having sold 4.5 million copies of his three critically acclaimed records and scored a Brit award for Best Male Artist following his debut in 2007.

Morrison’s most recent offering is his aptly named third studio album, The Awakening (out now through Universal).

The album delves deep into Morrison’s fatherhood experiences, with the performer both becoming a father and losing his own in recent years.

In twelve tracks, The Awakening takes listeners on a rollercoaster of emotions that highlight the level of maturity in Morrison’s songwriting, influenced by his recent life experiences.

‘The tone is melancholy, the songs strong both musically and lyrically and the production pretty near to flawless. The boy’s got soul but even more importantly he’s got a voice’ – The Daily Express

‘With his unmistakable husky tone, the mid-tempo ballad starts slowly, before building up to an emotionally powerful chorus that just keeps growing bigger and better… Morrison’s voice takes centre spotlight, soaring effortlessly over the instruments, and showcasing his great range.’ – The AU Review
Throughout his impressive career, Morrison has also collaborated with some of the most respected and much loved names in the industry including Jason Mraz, Nelly Furtardo and Jessie J who features on The Awakening’s stand-out track, ‘Up’.

This will be Morrison’s first run of Australian shows in more than five years. His 2007 tour of Australia and New Zealand captivated fans and critics alike:

‘Singing with a voice full of emotion and with more conviction than any audience has heard in a fair while it was clear that the crowd were holding onto and believing every single word coming from his mouth. The crowd weren’t frozen, they were stood in total awe.’ – Faster Louder
Joining Morrison on tour will be Kiwi songstress, Gin Wigmore. Wigmore has earned fans across the globe with her unique brand of folk rock, highlighted in hit singles like ‘Oh My’ and ‘Don’t Stop’. In her stellar career, she has shared the stage with the likes of Pete Murray, John Mellencamp and Sheryl Crow.

Also supporting Morrison will be Ashleigh Mannix. Hailing from Australia’s capital Canberra, Mannix is a breath of fresh air in the nation’s singer-songwriter scene. Her unique brand of folk pop music comes alive in front of a live audience and has already performed everywhere from France to Japan in her short but illustrious career.

James Morrison is set to wow Australians once again when he arrives on our shores this September. Be swift to grab a ticket when they go on sale on June 29th.
