Two new commissions for Tasdance - two extraordinary choreographers, Larissa McGowan and Anna Smith. Transducer, a machine for converting energy, inspires Larissa McGowan in a vibrantly wrought examination of energy in all its forms and impacts. Adventurous Sydney composer Charlie Chan collaborates with Larissa to create the score which exaggerates this interaction. As an innovative and celebrated artist, Anna Smith explores Raymond Kurzweil's concept of singularity as technological change becomes so rapid that it surpasses our human brainpower. If the prediction is correct, how will this impact on mankind? This idea reflects Anna's ongoing investigation into the ways we tip the balance technologically and environmentally.
