Nine Live announces an exciting new nationwide live tour for Australian living treasure, Judith Durham, her first Australian concert tour since 2001. The Colours of My Life tour will comprise the best of Judith’s music from all the diverse styles covered in her incredible 50 year musical journey. Taking in all of Australia’s major capitals in July, Colours of My Life is sure to blow audiences away with this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to hear the golden voice of ‘true musical royalty’ live. As the legendary and much-loved lead vocalist of Australia’s first global chart-topping band The Seekers in the mid 1960s, Judith Durham became our first international ‘pop princess’. She went on to be named ‘Australian of the Year’ in 1967 (jointly with The Seekers) for putting Australia on the international pop music map. Often outselling The Beatles and The Rolling Stones, The Seekers were the first Australian group to reach No. 1 in the UK and USA. Their timeless hits include Oscar-nominated “Georgy Girl”, “I’ll Never Find Another You” (more than 5 million hits on YouTube to date) and the international #1 hit, “The Carnival Is Over” (No.30 in ‘UK Top 100 Best Selling Singles Of All Time’). Presented by Nine Live, Judith Durham’s Colours of My Life concerts will be a glorious celebration of her incredible golden jubilee (50 years) in the music industry (1961-2011). In harmony with the album of the same name (released in Nov 2011) which hit #1 on ARIA’s Jazz & Classical chart and stayed there for over 10 weeks and even made top 20 in the pop chart, Judith Durham will perform her favourite songs from across the eras of her music – covering the pop years, the jazz years and the singer/songwriter years. Backed by a stunning 5-piece band, audiences can expect to hear Seekers classics such as “Georgy Girl” and “The Carnival Is Over”, plus hits from her 10 solo albums including her most recent self-penned album Epiphany. In a unique way, Judith will vary her repertoire at each stage of the tour by performing a City-themed song from her latest album, The Australian Cities Suite, released 27th April. From “Happy Years I Spent In Hobart” to “Adelaide You’re Beautiful” and “Seldom Melbourne Leaves My Mind”, audiences will be treated to the song for their city from the Suite.Judith mused:"Life is so full of surprises lately, and to be given this opportunity to sing live for all my beautiful Australian fans at this 50th anniversary milestone time in my life is a dream coming true. It has been on the horizon for 10 years since my last big tour here and I can't wait to get out and say hello to everyone in song."Judith Durham has achieved phenomenal success and critical acclaim as a solo concert performer and recording artist since leaving The Seekers. Her 35-date UK tour in 2003 culminated in a sold-out performance at London’s Royal Festival Hall.
