Melbourne-based funk and blues five-piece Let The Cat Out return in 2012 armed with a brand new album titled “Swimming Upstream” featuring the lead single of the same name. The band will launch the new single on a whirlwind tour of Western Australia throughout January and February 2012. Let The Cat Out began recording their long-anticipated second full length album Swimming Upstream, following up 2010’s “Get It Like That” at the beginning September 2011, produced by nationally renowned artist Pete Cornelius. Vocalist and rhythm guitarist Jane McArthur says of the album, “each song has its own particular feel, we've added in extra instrumentation where we've thought it would add to the message and the vibe of the song, whereas in the first album - we were very much trying to stick to the raw sound of the 5 of us, and be faithful to how we could recreate the songs live. It's still Let The Cat Out, but it's got a bit more added fire, and a bit more complexity”. “We're guilty of genre-bending again on this album - but perhaps the biggest surprise for some of our fans is a small journey into heavier than usual territory with our tune Captain Creation”. When the band formed in Hobart in early 2007, it was a group of four like-minded musicians just playing some tunes they loved. Before long, they came across vocalist and song writer Jane McArthur and brought her on board to add to the rock solid and dynamic rhythm section. This added another whole dimension to the band, and the direction changed to focus on Jane’s extensive catalogue of songs. Let The Cat Out’s debut album Get It Like That was recorded at the end of 2008 and was toured up the east coast of Australia in 2010 after extensive gigging in their home state.
