It’s the season for great times, warm vibes and inevitable tropical storms. The Hurricane Evie Tour – an explosive whirlwind of hooks and harmonies is set to sweep along the east coast, as two of Australia’s most exciting new acts - Pluto Jonze and Cub Scouts join forces to embark on this highly anticipated national co-headline tour. Armed with a recently released debut EP, tour supports alongside the likes of The Jezabels, Buck 65, Guineafowl and Dappled Cities and loads of love from Triple J for latest single ‘Plastic Bag in a Hurricane’, enigmatic song-smith Pluto Jonze is back to embrace the masses as part of the Hurricane Evie Tour. Growing up in a musical inner-city household, laptop popster Pluto Jonze had his mind blown early by the big pop stylings of Bowie, The Beatles and Beck, developing an obsession he never ever grew out of. Dressed with samples, sequenced electronic lines and backed by an explosive live 3-piece drenched with lush vocals, pounding drums, melody-soaked guitar and his signature Theremin sound, this is what the 60’s would’ve sounded like on another planet. Cohorts, co-headliners and partners in crime - Cub Scouts are an energetic, Brisbane based 5 piece that have been crafting their own style of indie pop music over the past year. Their latest single, ‘Evie’, is an exploration into new sounds and stories, and is the first single from an upcoming album recorded with Melbourne producer, John Castle (The Boat People, Dan Parsons, Washington, The Cat Empire). Having received extensive airplay on Triple J, this joyous track has seen Cub Scouts added to the St Jerome’s Laneway Festival line-up for 2012, as well as performing in and around Brisbane, sharing the stage with local and national names. The east-coast is set to be taken by storm as two of the nation’s hottest new artists - Pluto Jonze and Cub Scouts take to the road. Be prepared when “Hurricane Evie” hits your part of town this February / March.
