Following the celebrated release of his new album Ashes & Fire, The Frontier Touring Company are delighted to announce that RYAN ADAMS will be performing a series of intimate one-man theatre shows across Australia and New Zealand in 2012.
This will be Ryan’s first ever solo tour of the region, having toured here previously with backing band The Cardinals; and if the start of his US tour dates this month were any indication, fans are about to be rewarded in kind for their patience and unwavering loyalty:
"If you have the opportunity to see Ryan Adams in action--do not pass go, do not collect $200, just buy that ticket and experience a once in a lifetime show." - Seattlest
"You wonder why more shows can't be like this. Not just Ryan Adams shows that strip away the overproduction and the playacting, but concerts in general where no one's updating their Tumblr, no one's snapping photos, etc. ...“ - LA Weekly
“Over the course of nearly two and a half hours, he played 26 songs…which allowed him to excavate whole album sides and plumb his deep catalog as well as plow through the new material of this year's Ashes & Fire…In the last decade, the songwriter has quietly become one of the best singers in rock, able to howl or hush with equal aplomb.” – Drowned In Sound
A highly regarded songwriter and musician amongst his contemporaries, Ryan Adams’ latest album Ashes & Fire (available now through Sony) has been widely lauded by fans and critics across the globe:
“Ashes & Fire essentially is Adams up close and acoustic… it's enough to know that this is very, very good.” 4/5 stars – Sydney Morning Herald
“Folk troubadour Ryan Adams continues to wander on his latest album, but rarely gets lost…Vocally, Adams is on top of his game, which helps the album truly break free from his often restrained Americana…Welcome back, tiger.” – Herald Sun
"Ashes & Fire, feels like the record we always suspected he had in him. It is too good not to write about” – Esquire
“A slow-burning splendor… will leave you speechless” – People
“His fragile lyrics and his voice, sounding strong and clear, better than it has in years, twist into a perfect union on Ashes & Fire… Embedded in a world of crashing, pounding pop music, Adams’ solo rawness brings with it sweet release.” – LA Times
“His best solo album in a decade…Ashes & Fire is a stunning, stripped-back, heart-on-sleeve record that re-captures his irrefutable songwriting ability.” – NME
“Ashes & Fire is the sound of Ryan Adams replacing himself amongst music's most revered… This is an album that delivers more and more with every listen, showcasing an artist maturing with grace and poise.” – BBC Music
Currently touring Europe, Ryan Adams continues to assert his musical prowess leaving audiences breathless:
“For over two hours, the North Carolina-born singer surefootedly glided through 26 delicate songs, punctuating them with genial chat.” 4/5 Stars – The Guardian
“It’s hard to envisage any other artist holding the attention of an 800-strong crowd for over two hours, armed only with a couple of acoustic guitars, a piano and a scrapbook full of songs…With a voice that oscillates between wistful croon and triumphant rasp, often within the same note, it is in this stripped-bare setting that Adams talent with a melody and songwriting ability really shines through.” – Clashmusic.com
Ryan Adams’ theatre shows offer fans in Australia and New Zealand the opportunity to experience Ashes & Fire live in concert for the first time whilst savouring his back catalogue in a solo format. Be sure to note the details below as tickets will undoubtedly be in high demand.
