…fresh from weeks of Byron Bay farmhouse solitude; fresh from recording their soon to be
released new album…and, after taking the past month off to rejuvenate from those experiences, fresh enough to embark on a national album launch tour of epic Tour de France like proportions!

Hailing from the Gold Coast, Tijuana Cartel has built a firm reputation for beats that
span the globe. Multi-layered grooves, touches of slide and flamenco guitar, trumpet,
vocals and Afro-Cuban percussion mixed with some hardened electronica.

TIJUANA CARTEL’s new album is due for release in September and the band is rehearsing a new show, preparing to ride off into the sunset on a two-month tour. With the sound of their previous two singles – the hypnotic “White Dove” and eminently quirky “Letting It Go” – still wafting through the airwaves thanks to solid support from triple j and community radio, the new album tracks will supply the soundtrack to the tour.

In keeping with the breadth of the tour, lead vocalist Paul George says “the new album has an epic feel". Whilst still holding true to the Tijuana Cartel ethic, the new album combines elements of different musical origins into each track and is more a progression in sound than a change of direction. George further explains that the band “we’re experimenting with a slight glitch-hop feel, mixed with lots of feeding back guitars and quirky pop undertones".

The album tour will take in 33 gigs over 64 days! Do the maths, that’s a show every
two days with nary enough time for a nap! Starting in Northern Queensland, Tijuana Cartel
will ride the M1 in zig-zag patterns as the tour rolls through Western Australia,
Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia and the ACT.

Tijuana Cartel’s raw and electric energy has blazed a path through venues and festivals throughout Australia and the world. Their live shows bristle with energy and positivity, leaving crowds wanting more dance, more fun, more beats and more grooves…..Tijuana Cartel are not to be missed.

Cadel Evans ain’t got nothing on these intrepid travellers!
