Description:
A 10th anniversary deserves a very special celebration and that’s exactly what a day on the green has planned with Aussie rock legend Jimmy Barnes heading up the festivities for this noteworthy occasion.
Although all shows in the upcoming a day on the green 2010/2011 summer season fall under the 10th anniversary banner, promoters Roundhouse Entertainment wanted to pay homage to many of the Aussie artists who have played a part in the event’s 215 concerts to date – and that desire has resulted in four massive birthday concerts in November.
‘Barnesy’, who has returned to his roots with a brand spanking new rock album ‘Rage and Ruin’, will head up a sensational 10-artist line-up featuring Vanessa Amorosi, Tex Perkins and Dan Sultan at all shows, plus a rotating list of the who’s who of Aussie rock with Mark Seymour, Ian Moss, Richard Clapton, Ross Wilson, Diesel, Michael Spiby and Swanee.
This 10-artist line-up will perform at Leconfield Wines McLaren Vale SA, Bimbadgen Estate Hunter Valley NSW and Sirromet Wines Mt Cotton QLD, whilst six artists - Jimmy, Vanessa, Tex Perkins, Diesel, Dan Sultan and Vika & Linda - will take to the stage for the WA concert at Kings Park & Botanic Garden, Perth.
Plans are afoot for the artists to guest in each other’s sets, cook up some tasty duets and provide some surprises and highly memorable musical moments! With a feast of the best Aussie rock on offer and ticket prices starting from $99.50, the a day on the green 10th birthday concerts are guaranteed to be one of the parties of the year!
Promoter Michael Newton said: “Since we started in January 2001, more than 50 Australian artists have played at our events. Supporting local talent has been a huge part of what a day on the green is all about. We couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate our anniversary than bringing together this great collection of acts with Jimmy headlining and all for under $100.”

Jimmy Barnes said: “I think that A Day on the Green has been like a breath of fresh air to the Australian music industry. No longer do people have to settle for being crushed up the front of a suburban pub to be able to get a drink and see their favourite bands at the same time. They can now do it in style and sit back in some of the best locations. Eat, drink and listen to the best music in the world. What more could you want?”
Vanessa Amorosi: “Touring is the favourite aspect of my career and the a day on the green shows are always amazing. Huge outdoor gigs, good food and great wine! Not only is there always a great atmosphere but the venues are fabulous places to play. I am honoured to be part of the 10th anniversary celebrations with Jimmy Barnes. Congratulations to A Day on the Green on its 10th year.”
THE HEADLINERS:
For fans yearning for JIMMY BARNES’ return to his rockin’ old ways, the wait is well and truly over as he rolls out a dozen gems on ‘Rage and Ruin’, his 16th studio solo album, released August 27. Already first single The Devil Knows You’re Dead has received strong airplay – and there’s more where that came from. From addictive mid-tempo groovers like God Or Money and Turn It Around to the irresistible energy of Can’t Do It Again and the tenderness of Love Can Break The Hardest Heart, it’s Barnes at his very best. A longtime a day on the green favourite over many years, we can’t think of anyone better to head up these birthday shows.
VANESSA AMOROSI’s Hazardous album shows no sign of slowing up! Following the double platinum This Is Who I Am and the platinum Mr Mysterious, comes the new single Holiday, out on August 13. Vanessa has just returned from a hugely successful three months in the UK and Europe promoting the album’s release there. Vanessa last played a day on the green supporting Rob Thomas earlier this year wowing audiences with her fantastic live performances.
