A robot android in search of the perfect beat + hip-hop diva biatch venting on the mic. This is Metals.
With their lead single, Drop Your Guard, gathering an enormous buzz through the blogosphere and now being added to radio across the country, the mysterious Metals have now released an astonishing video clip to accompany their eccentric debut track.
The genre-bending act emerged from the Melbourne underground, the collaboration between soul singer Candice Butler and scientist of sound and producer of electronic robot music Digital Primate. Together they have created a new substance, an alloy that combines all the soul and funk of their respective musical backgrounds.
Debut single Drop Your Guard builds upon the foundation of a guitar riff to create a crisp electro-rock banger that could go toe-to-toe with any artist out there.
A lucky few hundred industry folk were treated to their debut live performance at Illusive’s Soundcheck event in Melbourne in July – and word has begun to spread of their astonishing stage presence and eclectic, intense and electrifying set list.
Off the back of this showcase, they were instantly added to the line-ups of Fat As Butter, Big Sound and One Movement festivals.
For two epic nights, Metals and Box Wars will converge to recreate the undeniable awesomeness of the Drop Your Guard music video that saw metals battle a cardboard army (and win).
Metals forthcoming EP is due out October 2010 and will be an undisputable force to be reckoned with.
