Marking the advent of Spring and bound to bring a bit of extra brightness and joy to your ears, Adelaide roots/alt country duo The Yearlings will be touring Australia to coincide with the release of their fourth studio album Sweet Runaway (out on Mixmasters via Vitamin Records) on 9th of August.
The Yearlings consist of Robyn Chalklen (vocals/guitar) and Chris Parkinson (vocals/guitar & banjo), who have been writing and performing together for nine years, since first crossing paths at The Tamworth Country Music Festival. Their chemistry is remarkable, and like a fine wine, their musical competency has matured impressively on the vine. They have a command to their musical compositions that most outfits can merely yearn for.
Together Robyn and Chris combine a sunset voice and a heart wood guitar to make a river of sound that winds its way past the hustle and flows back into the good old country of this land. Softer'n a rabbit sheltrin in a holler, sweet harmonies and rich tremolo electric guitar, aged. Old. Just the right amount of haunting. The Yearlings songs rock, sad and slow . . . like a chair on an old wooden porch. Personal, soul-stirring lyricists, watching them live is like eavesdropping on an intimate conversation.
Catch them as they tour the country performing songs off Sweet Runaway.
