APRA Award winning troubadour Ash Grunwald’s fifth studio album, HOT MAMA VIBES, is neck-deep in the technological swamp of the 21st Century. It's also the most primal concoction of elemental junkyard soul to stomp through your speakers this year.
Not least the second single to be pulled off the album for your listening pleasure, the profoundly soulful Lady Luck, which began with a beat supplied by Sydney hip-hop maestro Chasm, and fell into place at the 11th hour when Fingers Malone emailed an exquisite synth organ groove from London.
Lady Luck follows the footsteps of the album’s first offering, alternative radio favourite Walking. The booty shakin’ ditty is a dirty, rocking, Howlin’ Wolf inspired tune about a man trying to get back to his woman before sunrise. A no questions asked addition to alt radio playlists nationally.
Hot Mama Vibes is the follow up record to Grunwald’s successful, ARIA nominated LP ‘Fish Out Of Water’ and sees Ash continue down an unmarked road of collaboration with some of the country’s most respected Hip-Hop artists, who’ve stepped in to produce and contribute to his unmistakable sound.
Musical guests such as Mr. Trials (Funkoars), Count Bounce (TZU) and Chasm (Astronomy Class) have joined Ash on this recent journey, basting his traditional blues and roots sounds with beats and adding flavours of funk round every chord change.
