Description:

Civil Society is very proud to announce the highly anticipated return of the Brooklyn quartet Grizzly Bear. This July beneath the soaring prosceniums of Palais Theatre in Melbourne and the Enmore Theatre in Sydney, Grizzly Bear will return for two very special nights to once more mesmerize audiences with their beautifully seductive music.

In January Grizzly Bear sold out their debut tour in a matter of moments with performances in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth along with appearances as part of the Sydney Festival, Falls Festivals, Southbound and Sunset Sounds. Those lucky enough to secure a ticket to the shows witnessed to one of the year’s most stunning performances, as these New York gentlemen indulged audiences with the beautifully layered sounds and effortlessly showed why they’ve become the most talked about Indie band in the world.

The release of their 2009 studio album Veckatimest propelled Grizzly Bear to the forefront of contemporary music stunning fans and critics alike with their haunting experimental folk rock sound. The appearance of Two Weeks on the blogsphere was to set the tone for 2009 and the critics agreed with Veckatimest becoming album of the week on Triple J, ABC Radio National, FBI, 2SER, 3RRR, 3D Radio, 6RTR, Drum Media, Rave, Time Off, MX and MAG. Praise came to from their peers with the likes of Robin Pecknold of Fleet Foxes calling it “The best record of the 00’s” and Johnny Greenwood of Radiohead declaring Grizzly Bear as his “favorite band in the whole world”.

With their humble beginnings in the bedroom of a small apartment in Brooklyn, Grizzly Bear was a project of tape recordings by Edward Droste, only ever meant to be heard by his closest friends. However the project soon evolved, as Droste began to collaborate with Christopher Bear and it was this incarnation that was to produce first album Horns of Plenty. By the end of 2005 friends Daniel Rossen and Chris Taylor had joined the pair and the full band recorded the critically acclaimed album Yellow House in 2006 with Pitchfork calling it “one of the year’s best records”

This July don’t miss your chance to see the act deemed “so good that they could potentially end all human conflict” - Dazed and Confused as Grizzly Bear make their return to showcase their haunting harmonies and exquisitely layered sounds in two very special theatre performances in Sydney and Melbourne.
