Civil Society is proud to announce two selected performances from Pivot in Sydney and Melbourne, their first headline shows in each city for 18 months. At this extremely limited run of small capacity shows Pivot will be previewing selected tracks from their forth coming album due for release later this year on Warp Records (Inertia), as well as performing songs from their striking 2008 album O Soundtrack My Heart.
Having spent the best part of 2009 away from the public eye, Pivot’s Dave Miller and brothers Richard and Laurence Pike took the time to write and record new material. The fruits of this process have already sparked interest with the first offering The Quick Mile being picked up by Triple J, FBi and Triple R.
2009 also saw Pivot contribute to the opus Warp 20, a compilation that profiled artists from across the label’s 20 year history and brought together artists to cover each other’s work, with Pivot covering label mates Grizzly Bear’s Colorado and having their own song Fool in the Rain covered by Scott Herren’s Diamond Watch Wrists.
Internationally the 3 piece’s hectic touring schedule has seen them appear at SXSW 2010, Glastonbury and Meltdown Festivals, locally international artists as diverse as Sigur Ros, Gary Numan, Ladytron and Arctic Monkeys have handpicked Pivot to perform with them. However these two shows in April will mark Pivot’s first Headline shows in 18 months in Sydney and Melbourne.
Don’t miss this special opportunity to be the first to preview songs from Pivot’s new album in these strictly limited capacity shows ahead of the release of their new album and the full national tour later this year.
