It's on again! The showdown that pits brother against brother, face to face with their musical past, present and future!
Quickly becoming something of an annual event, the Snarski brothers take to the stage at The Vanguard and the Northcote Social Club once again in March 2010. Testing their musical memory banks, they will delve into the extensive catalogue of Chad's Tree, The Jackson Code and The Blackeyed Susans - swapping and re-interpreting each other’s songs and carrying on like brothers do.
Yes, the Snarski brothers are back for another trip through an ever expanding catalogue of work, spanning decades, dimensions and some personal demons.
In 1983 on the outskirts of Perth, brothers Mark and Rob Snarski formed Chad's Tree, a band who were renowned for producing darkly literary music, with sparse and elaborate arrangements; stubborn and uncompromising. After several alternative-chart-topping singles and albums, the Snarski brothers went their separate ways. Mark formed The Jackson Code and younger brother Rob The Blackeyed Susans along with members of The Triffids.
Over the past year, Mark has managed to record his new project The Nearly Brothers with Mick Harvey producing, Martyn Casey (The Bad Seeds), TB Allen (The Invisible Men) and Bongo Fury (The Jackson Code). Rob has been touring constantly since the release of The Blackeyed Susans' 20 year retrospective ‘Reveal Yourself 1989-2009’ (Liberation Music) last year, as well as working on the follow up to his joint effort with Dan Luscombe (The Drones) ‘There is nothing here that belongs to you’. (As an aside, the previously quite difficult to find Snarski/Luscombe album 'There is nothing here that belongs to you' will soon be available to purchase via iTunes - keep a look out).
The Snarskis have also just put the finishing touches on the long awaited Chad’s Tree compilation ‘Crossing Off The Miles’, a 2CD retrospective which is due out in March through Memorandum/Fuse Music.
And so it is no small miracle that Snarski vs Snarski are able to find the time for two fantastic shows before they head to Europe to join The Triffids in their 'A Secret in the Shape of a Song' performances in London, Belgium and Athens.
