Description:

Let The Cat Out is a band you’re going to hear a lot more of. This funky blues-influenced outfit has gained a loyal following in their hometown of Hobart Tasmania, due to their dynamic live shows. The contagious on-stage energy fuels their music - where soulful vocals, soaring guitar and sax meet a rock-solid rhythm section. The eclectic backgrounds of the members of Let The Cat Out, from jazz to funk, blues and folk, make for a breathtaking ride with an unmistakable Let The Cat Out sound. But it is the refreshingly honest presentation which creates a truly magical and uplifting experience! “We all grew up playing and listening to quite different music, so to mix all of that together with Jane’s songs results in quite a melting pot”!

The baseline is replaced by the big rich sound of the Hammond Organ entwined by the rich full sound of the rhythm section – guitars, organs and drums.

The single, ‘Lee Roy’, is the first taste from the band’s debut album ‘Get It Like That’ which is a “fun” song about a fictional character - the inner demon who incites us to down a drink and another drink when we know we really don't need it. He comes in good faith, (sometimes in the form of your best mate), and a fantastic party is had by all! But he unceremoniously abandons you in the wee hours and leaves you to wake up feeling sore and sorry and wondering 'how on earth did I let that happen?? ' - well rest assured - it wasn't your fault - you've just been 'Lee Royed'

“It's a fun song with an easy beat for grooving,” says vocalist Jane McArthur. “I think most people can identify with the story!”

Let The Cat Out have already had a kick start in the right direction in 2010 having recently bagged a slot at The Falls Festival in Marion Bay, Tasmania over the New Year’s period, a performance at the St Kilda Festival in February and at the opening night of the renowned Taste of Tasmania Festival.

In March and April, Let The Cat Out, hit the mainland running with an extensive tour of Australia’s East Coast tour taking in the sights of Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia and their home town of Tasmania. And when Jane describes their live show as a supercharged version of the album, she’s not kidding! “The big grooves get right down into your dancing nerve, and the solos from the guys take it to a whole new level of intensity”.

Described by EDGE RADIO as “one of Hobart's most exciting up-and-coming bands”, be sure to catch Let The Cat Out on tour!
