Description:

Mercury Prize winners, Antony and The Johnsons, bring their spellbinding Symphony Tour to the Sydney Opera House.

‘Marries emotion, melody and elegance to the most stunning effect.’ The Age

‘Heart-stealing, heart-breaking… he doesn’t just make you react, he makes you feel.’ NME

One of the most exceptional artists in music today, Antony reveals private worlds of tenderness and sorrow, as his multi-octave voice wavers and soars with raw vulnerability.

The undeniable stand-out of Sydney Festival’s Came So Far For Beauty in 2005, Antony returned to Sydney the following year with a series of sell-out shows at the State Theatre.

This time around Antony and The Johnsons play the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall with a 41-piece orchestra. Experience favourites from I am a Bird Now and his latest album The Crying Light, lifted to new levels of poignancy.

More than just a concert, the Symphony Tour unites sound and vision as the stage pulsates with wondrous lighting – transforming performance into art.

‘Antony can break your heart into pieces so small you fear it can never be put exactly right again. But you know what? It is exquisite sorrow. And you want to feel it again and again.’ Sydney Morning Herald

‘It's a beautifully wrought show.’ The Times

I saw Antony last night in Perth and of course he was wonderful. I prefer to hear his exquisite beautiful voice without the full-on backing of a symphony orchestra, however. WASO is great but Antony does not need to add to the gift of his voice. E... (more)
