Our darling Marling was just 18 when her debut album ‘Alas, I Cannot Swim’ propelled her onto the world stage as a major player of the indie-folk scene. Australian audiences were enamored with her 2008 sold out tour plus a Splendour In The Grass performance that left a slew of new fans in her wake.

Now she returns for the 2010 Sydney Festival, preceded by headline shows in Brisbane and Melbourne. Secret Sounds proudly presents Laura Marling at The Zoo in Brisbane on Wednesday, January 20th and at the Corner Hotel in Melbourne on Friday, January 22nd. Melbourne fans: tickets flew last time, so get in quick! This tour also marks Laura’s first-ever Brisbane gig.
With a Mercury Music Prize nomination under her belt, countless UK tours, lauded performances in the US, not to mention a ‘Best Album of 2008’ nod from NME, Marling returned to the studio to record her highly-anticipated follow-up.
Hooking up with producer Ethan Johns (Kings of Leon, Ryan Adams, Ray LaMontagne), Marling’s new material explores a much darker tone. Recorded between Eastcote in London and Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studios in Bath, the album is due for release in early 2010.

This London songstress has been playing consistently since she was last in Australia, supporting the likes of Neil Young in Europe and Daniel Johnston in the UK. Marling will be performing these intimate sideshows with a full band, giving a sneak preview of brand-new material as well as haunting favourites from her hit debut.
