Since making their debut last year supporting Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, The Black Ryder went on to play some of the most sought after international support spots through 2008 including; The Raveonettes, The Brian Jonestown Massacre & The Charlatans.
It was the swirling drone and haunting vocals of the track, Let It Go that first captured listener's attention after the duo posted a demo of the track on their MySpace page. Quickly gaining popularity, the track earned a spot on various internationally released compilations such as 'Turn On Your Mind' (UK), Dead Bees Record Sampler # 6 (France), and 'Burn Your Fingers on the Sun' (Australia).
Having spent the last few months locked away in their home studio recording, producing and mixing their debut album themselves, it is with great pleasure we announce that The Black Ryder will be releasing on their own label, ‘The Anti-Machine Machine’ through EMI Music Australia.
Original Matters Management, Marketing & Media Company and EMI Music Australia have struck a unique deal which will allow artists the opportunity to develop independently, having complete creative control, yet being able to benefit from the resources and backing of a major label, and The Black Ryder will be the first signing through this new initiative. Aimée Nash of The Black Ryder said of the venture:
“Since the inception of this project we've felt very passionately about allowing the music and everything that surrounds it to evolve in it's most natural (and for the most part unconventional) form.
This new initiative with Original Matters & EMI Music will allow us to release the album we always wanted to release on our own (newly created) label. To have their support in releasing our album in such a unique way is the best possible outcome we could have hoped for. To say we’re pleased or excited by this outcome would be an understatement. We're very proud to be apart of this new initiative & direction.”
