Eddie Kowalczyk is widely known as the singer and front-man of one the most popular
and enduring rock bands of the last two decades, LIVE.
Since their formation in Pennsylvania in ‘85, LIVE have gone on to tour extensively
around the world and earn worldwide CDs sales in excess of 20 million. Their extensive
and hugely successful body of work spans over studio albums such as Mental Jewelry,
the breakthrough Throwing Cooper, Secret Samadhi, The Distance To Here, V, Birds Of
Pray and Songs From Black Mountain, all of which reached the top 5 of ARIA charts
including three number 1’s, making Australia one of the bands’ most successful markets.
Popular single releases include I Alone, Lightning Crashes, Selling The Drama, Lakini’s
Juice, The Dolphin’s Cry, and Heaven.
One of the main things that enabled LIVE to maintain a devoted international fan base is
the substantial and durable nature of their lyrics, which have often reflected Kowalczyk's
personal and spiritual concerns. "My approach as a songwriter is to write songs that are
not finite and will resonate with listeners for a really long time," Kowalczyk asserts.
"Sixteen years after our first album, Mental Jewelry, I am still able to get something out of
songs LIVE recorded in the early 1990s, and I think that one of the reasons why we have
had so many fans for so long is that our fans are also continuing to find nuances in our
songs."
Eddie is now offering and accentuating these nuances in a more intimate setting through
his solo-acoustic theatre performances featuring a career-spanning set of songs from
LIVE, touring nationally this August.
