Description:

Since the release of their critically acclaimed debut Album, Melbourne’s Blackchords have been fine tuning their live show and will be taking it on the road to showcase their moody, atmospheric sound scapes to audiences in Melbourne, Geelong, Sydney and Newcastle this June & July.

Having spent most of the last year living life in Parisian bohemia, front man Nick Milwright has returned to his hometown of Melbourne to take on the road the sounds of the Blackchords debut LP, out now through Dust Devil Music & Stomp.

Aside from the release of the debut album, which has been generating overwhelmingly positive reviews so far, the band have been kicking goals internationally, this week securing a spot on The Great Australian Wave at Popkomm Festival in Berlin in September. The band also receiving a nod of approval by taking 3rd place in the prestigious International Song writing Competition in Music Video, for their song Broken Bones, featured on the self-titled debut. This acknowledgement alone has brought them to the attention of some of the world’s top musicians and industry heavyweight –watch this space!

With echoes of early Radiohead, Coldplay and Interpol, Blackchords have managed to reflect in this album the musical touchstones and hallmarks that Milwright and his band mates have soaked up through a life spent absorbed in music. Far from wearing their influences on their sleeves, Blackchords bring them to a melting pot of aberrant, deep emotional melodies with hooks in all the right places.
