New Zealands Antagonist are back with a new album and new name: ANTAGONIST A.D.
Earlier this year with the Trial And Error Records re-release of 2006s These Cities, Our Graves, the band hit our shores twice to back it up. One of these tours was in support of hardcore heroes Parkway Drive on their massive June 2008 national tour. Throughout this busy period the band found time to work on their new album We Are The Dead. We Are The Dead will be released in Australia on October 11 through Trial And Error.
Taking a different approach,ANTAGONIST A.Ds music and message could be described as 'Modern hardcore with old school ethics'. It is raw metal core at its purest and sincerest - not watered down or compromised in anyway.ANTAGONISTA.D delivers the frantic intensity of hardcore, while utilising a heavier edge.
Lyrically, We Are The Dead speaks of the cancerous nature of western culture, the infectiousness of apathy, its symptoms and consequences, the exploitation of animals across the world, for pleasure, science, fashion or food. With topics ranging from social and political commentary to the brutally honest self-retrospect and analysis. Simply put,ANTAGONIST A.Ds' words are full of venom, conviction and passion.
ANTAGONIST A.D has hit our shores many times in the last 4 years, alongside not only Parkway Drive, but both locals and internationals including Carpathian, Most Precious Blood (USA), Have Heart (USA) and Break Even. ANTAGONIST A.D will hit Australias highways once again this year throughout November and December in celebration of the We Are The Dead. They will take The Broderick along for the ride.
Now, ANTAGONIST A.D deliver their sophomore release We Are The Dead to both New Zealand and Australian audiences this October through ElevenfiftySeven Records (NZ) and Trial And Error (AUS).
