The highly anticipated, debut album from The Wilson Pickers will be released through ABC Music / Universal Music Australia, 4 October 2008. Titled ‘Land Of The Powerful Owl’, the album features eleven original compositions in the style of their very own unique blue-grass sound and was recorded in three short days in a Brisbane studio.

Both the band and the album is a collaborative, interstate effort from some of Australia’s finest rising songwriting and musical talents including singer/songwriter Sime Nugent and multi instrumentalist John Bedggood from Melbourne (VIC) with Ben Salter (of The Gin Club fame), songwriter/composer Danny Widdicombe, and singer/songwriter Andrew Morris from Brisbane.

Even though it’s early days, The Wilson Pickers have already cut their teeth as a band on the road as in recent support slots with US Blues/ Rockers, ‘The Black Keys’ on their Australian tour and ‘The Panics’ on their National Tour.

‘Land Of The Powerful Owl’ demonstrates a bold collection of songs, crafted with spirit, raw honesty and humor. The Wilson Pickers sport a collection of banjo, fiddle, mandolin, harmonica and guitar to create distinctive musical arrangements for harmony- laden tracks.
