The second quarter of 2008 has already proven to be a winner for Sydney Northern beaches rock band Stone Parade! Their debut single ‘My Generation’ released independently through MGM distribution in May, came in the Top 50 ARIA physical singles chart at number 17, the ARIA Australian singles chart at 19 and bulleted to number one on the AIR Charts. The band continued to introduce themselves to an expanding fan base with successful performances in Sydney and Brisbane around the single release along with a few in store performances along the way.
Hailing from the Northern Beaches and being huge sports fan the band also lifted community sprit in May this year when they attended a Manly Warringah home game and signed singles for fans on the famous Brookvale Oval Hill. Having grown up with the club and as massive fans of their beloved Sea Eagles, the band offered all the profits from sales of ‘My Generation’ to the save Brookie oval campaign, a gesture which well impressed the club, players and fans alike. The band will perform live on The NRL Footy Show on September 25, this will be the second last Footy Show of the year so it’s expected to be a big one!
Stone Parade also impressed industry and major corporate personnel with a corker performance at the Golden Stave luncheon this year and helped further when they auctioned themselves up for a live corporate performance raising $5,500.00 for the charities associated with the Golden Stave. More recently they performed at The Australian Children's Music Foundation Ball and played to an attentive audience which included non-other than Mr Russell Crowe.
The second half of 2008 sees Stone Parade release their debut album ‘Chase The Setting Sun’ and ‘Somebody Will Miss You’, the award winning single from the album, both released on August 16th through MGM. ‘My Generation’ introduced the band in full rock mode, in contrast, the new single which is an ‘A’ class rock ballad, delivers a more emotive side to the band. ‘Somebody Will Miss You’ scored first prize of the publicly voted ‘Nokia Be Heard’ competition late last year and also won the band first prize for the rock category of the International song writing competition for Best Rock Song Of the Year, the track was chosen out of 15 000 entries world-wide which were judged by industry luminaries such as Tom Waits, Julian Casablancas (the Strokes) & Nelly Furtado.
In news just to hand, the title track from the album has been programmed on Qantas Rock on Q for all domestic and international flights for the month of October.
