Description:

After six studio albums, three of which are Platinum and two Gold, the time is ripe for The Whitlams' "Best of". Released on August 2, 2008 through Warner Music, ‘Truth, Beauty & A Picture of You – The Best of The Whitlams’ is a comprehensive look at the amazing journey of the ARIA award winning band, from scrappy beginnings and tragedy to the success and stability of recent years. Tim Freedman describes: "It's a mixture of the popular and the narrative. I decided to leave a few singles off because I wanted to tell the story of The Whitlams, and include more early songs and songs that describe the dramas in our history." A premium edition will include a DVD with documentaries on the making of the "Love This City" and "Torch the Moon", and footage of their concerts at the Sydney Opera House last year with the Sydney Symphony.

To coincide with the release of the ‘Best of’, The Whitlams are hitting the road on a National Tour. Following the success of the band’s sell-out orchestral shows last year, The Whitlams will be playing with the two State orchestras they didn't get to last year, kicking off with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra in August and swinging past the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra for two shows in September. In their hometown of Sydney they will play their first shows in the enchanting surrounds of the State Theatre with the Symphonie Des Femmes – a 35 piece ALL Female orchestra. The rest of Australia will see the band as a muscular four piece, a line up that has now been together for 9 years – comprising of Tim Freedman, Warwick Hornby, Terepai Richmond and Jak Housden.

Tickets for these shows are selling fast, don’t miss out!
