"The Brookfield Shed was built in the early 1940s for a German Man called Eugene Klinger. Its purpose was to collect flower and vegetable seeds for Yates Seeds.
The slatted drying floor is still in place.
Other uses have been Chandlers Seeds, Hops and a Co-Op Apple shed for Henry Jones and Co.
For many years it lay idle being used for occasional storage. It was becoming vandalised.
The vineyard was planted in 1992 by then owners Hazell Bros.
In 1994 Peter and Helen Lindsay bought the shed and gradually restored it using recycled timbers wherever possible.
During that time it was used by local young artists as a studio.
In 2006 the Lindsay's finally were given permission to start renovating the shed putting in a commercial kitchen and creating a function centre/cafe but still keeping the rustic ambience.
We had added an area called Grandads Shed which is full of memorabilia. Stand in the middle of history.
The ground floor has grown now with the Canary Room a popular place for small private groups. It seats about 30 people comfortably and has its own court yard.
2010. The messinine floor houses the Tudor Court Model Village and German Model Train World. Guided tours are available. We also have beautiful meeting rooms with their own bar for hire.
Peters Accountancy practise is housed on the top floor, The building is built into the rock which makes the third floor accessible from the back at ground level.
Can't work that out?? Come and have a look. "
