Spiritualized, The Saints and Robert Forster to Play All Tomorrow's Parties

1 Oct 2008

The inaugural Australian leg of All Tomorrow's Parties - curated by Nick Cave - will feature Spiritualized, a reformed The Saints and Robert Forster, it was announced this morning.

The first announcement for the festival - which takes place in January - also includes legendary experimental artists such as Silver Apples, Harmonia, Afrirampo and James Blood Ulmer. Michael Gira of canonized No-Wave group Swans will also appear, as well as local avant-jazz heavyweights The Necks.

The festival takes place in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, with circumstances differing between cities. Melbourne will see a two-day festival at the Mt Buller ski-resort with on-site accomodation, while Sydney will see two one-day festivals at Cockatoo Island, with both days featuring the same line-up.

In Brisbane, only four of the acts confirmed for other cities will appear at this stage, those artists being Nick Cave, Spiritualized, Robert Forster and James Blood Ulmer.

The line-up:

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
The Saints
Spiritualized
Robert Forster
Silver Apples
M Gira
Fuck Buttons
James Blood Ulmer
Afrirampo
Harmonia
Bridezilla
The Necks
Laughing Clowns
Primitive Calculators (Melb only)

The Stabs (Melb only)

Accomodation for the Mount Buller event is on sale now, while tickets and the finalized line-up will be unleashed on Monday November 10 at 9.00am. For all details pertaining to accomodation and more, visit www.atpfestival.com.

Though it's awesome to see Spiritualized back in town, I'm equally excited about seeing the Silver Apples. What a rare treat that will be! Don't know about this accommodation in Mt Buller though. How expensive is that going to be? I grimace at the th... (more)

it'll likely definitely be local bands filling out the extra capacity at the Melbourne leg, but who wants to miss out on Primitive Calculators, for instance? It's a hard decision
Borges
Me too Dave. Don't want to miss out on Melb if Sydney misses out on the good bands. I reckon Melb will get more bands, but maybe it'll be just heaps of locals to fill in the gaps.

incredible line up. so excited about m.gira, spiritualized, the necks and nick cave and the bad seeds. awesome.
agree with you, BritishIndiaSuck
Dave
Not sure whether to fork out for Melbourne or just go to the Sydney show. Do you reckon Melbourne will get more/better bands?
BritishIndiaSuck
haha, no British India on this line-up mate. This is the best thing to happen to Australia's festival circuit, probably ever.
wtf
Oh noes I really wanted British India to play
