there are sooooo many and quite a few already listed such as "oh the places you'll go" and "the alchemist" but my fav would have to be Lord of the rings by John Ronald Ruell Tolkin it was voted book of the millenium which is pretty good since europeans only started publishing books in the 15th century and that was that damn king james bible
