the Jesus & Mary Chain sideshow at the Enmore on wednesday night. They started out a bit slow and I started to worry about what I'd dedicated my night to, thinking maybe that this was another heritage act cash-in (the New York Dolls show this time last year was tragic). The show slowly picked up momentum, they'd obviously thought a long time about how to get the pace right, by the time that they got to the end of the encore with Reverence, things were pretty magical.

Apart from having a few of their discs, I dont have much knowledge of them, but by the end of that last song I was sold.

Their music often being banned for drug references and blasphemy together with their London gigs in the 80's ending in riot made them notorious. In all honesty I dont think the modern Jesus & Mary Chain have anywhere that kind of energy, if you're looking for that you'd be dissapointed, but their live show is still heaps better than the BRMC's and they're  any way you look at it, one of the greatest rock bands the world has known.
