Kurt Cobain:
ABOUT A SON

"STAGGERING! A perfect storm of documentary innovation" - FILM THREAT

"A must for anyone who love Cobain, or still has hope for cinematic portraiture" - WASHINGTON POST

Plus an exclusive Q&A with Michael Azerrad
- Kurt Cobain's biographer (Come As You Are)
hosted by Rod Yates (Empire / Kerrang!)

ONE NIGHT ONLY!
Wednesday April 30, 2008

Popcorn Taxi invites you to join us for the ONLY SYDNEY SCREENING of Kurt Cobain: ABOUT A SON; an intimate and moving documentary on the late musician and artist Kurt Cobain told entirely in his own voice - without celebrity sound bytes, news clips, sensational tabloid angles or attempts to mimic a grunge aesthetic. Instead filmmaker AJ Schneck has created something closer to an autobiography of Cobain - a profound first-hand account of Cobain's own successes and failures, thoughts and experiences, allowing the audience unprecedented intimacy with a legendary figure in popular culture.

Based on more than 25 hours of never-before-heard interviews conducted by journalist Michael Azerrad, the film offers audiences a reintroduction to one of the most important cultural figures of the late 20th Century. The conversations are informal, humorous, angry and candid as Cobain recounts his own life - from childhood and adolescence to his days of musical discovery and later dealings with explosive fame.

These conversations have never before been made public and reveal a highly personal portrait of an artist much discussed but rarely understood. Combined with a soundtrack of more than 20 artists who influenced or touched Cobain during his life including The Melvins, Bad Brains, Half Japanese, Butthole Surfers, Mudhoney, Iggy Pop, David Bowie, Mark Lanegan and The Vaselines; this is a must-see event for fans of Cobain and those who wish to understand his intentions and art without prejudice.
