Isaac Hayes Passes Away Isaac Hayes died in his home in Memphis, Tennessee yesterday, aged 65. The legendary soul singer and voice for South Park's Chef was pronounced dead at Baptist East Hospital with the cause of death as yet unknown. Hayes was discovered collapsed in a bedroom near a running treadmill after being out grocery shopping. A sheriff's deputy attempted CPR on him until the ambulance arrived, but he was pronounced dead within an hour.
