Not content with alienating their fans through Napster lawsuits, filming an unintentionally hilarious documentary movie starring their life coach, cutting their hair and releasing St Anger, they've now announced that their next album Death Magnetic will be released though the video game Guitar Hero. It'll be in record stores on Sept 22nd and simultaneously downloadable to the video game. It's just so sold-out it's not even funny. Here's a clip of the real Metallica, I dont know whatever happened to these guys, they must be dead.

bullshit, it is a serious dilution of the brand and that's the worst thing, not the dilution, the fact that metallica ARE a brand in the first place. They long ago stopped standing for making good music, they're just known now for selling stuff.
This is metallica we're talking about here, not the Dandy Warhols. Metallica were not so long ago one of, if not the, greatest rock band in the world, and now they're reduced to this, putting out albums as add-on packs for video games. maybe I'm being a purist, but this is just so much bullshit.

yeah, you are being a purist... the music would end up on Guitar Hero anyway. what does it matter if it comes out the same day or a few weeks after?
