Right, let's get down to this. It's BOOGIE announcement time good people. That's right, it's back on. The little cosmic happening in the beautiful, wild grounds of Bruzzy's magical farm in Tallaroook are ready to welcome you again next Easter, April 6,7,8. We will stick to the tried and true 3 day extravaganza kicking off on Friday and finishing late on Sunday night. We will continue to offer free return train travel from the Melbourne CBD and free camping. We will continue to offer stylin' and tasty foods for all tastes and diets. We will continue to offer an outstanding range of booze with good ol' beer and cider, spirits, cocktails and anything else we can get our hands on, all of course, at everyday prices. And last, but not least, we will continue to bring you hand picked musical goodness to shake your ass, expand your mind and deliver you one fine, fine, good time. All this at the same rockin' price as last year.
OK, so here's what we got so far. Ladies and Gentlemen, little girls and boys, may we present:
Hailing all the long way from West Oz, here comes POND. The psychedelic beat combo put on one hell of an electrifying show every time they take to the stage. Part Tame Impala, part awesome, they will bring the late night magic to the Boogie stage.
JUSTIN TOWNES EARLE blew us all away at Boogie 3, why wouldn’t we invite his sweet Southern ass back? The long, tall, tattooed one will grace the Boogie stage this time with his band to deliver a set of classics from his rapidly growing body of work. A new album is due late March, and we will be among the first to hear it live, right in downtown Tallarook.
One of the most exciting things happening in music right now is Sydney garage/soul rockers ROYAL HEADACHE. The loose energy of this dynamic group of four from Sydney is the real deal. They are recent winners of The Age EG Awards for Best New Talent and you will see why real soon.
We don’t mind a bit of tradition, or a nod to the golden olden days at Boogie. From Tony Joe White to Smoke Machine, age is no barrier for us. Australian Crawl was a proud Melbourne staple in the late 70's and early 80's, so it is with great joy we bring you their main man, JAMES REYNE. He will be knockin' out the timeless classic from the Crawl and his superb solo work. A real treat here folks, as well a big singalong in store.
Sweet, sultry LANIE LANE has been wooing them all over the land recently. Her debut album entered way up in the carts and her appearance at the recent Nick Cave tribute shows really got the temperatures rising. She really is a one woman dynamo. All sass, style and sounds of a Southern songbird. Those sweet sounds will ring over the Boogie hills next Easter.
Speaking of ladies, imagine a classic hard rock band fronted by a hot babe belting out all the classics you know and love. Well friends, that band is AC/DSHE. Hells Bells, better Have A Drink On Me on a Highway To Hell. Stop Beatin’ Around The Bush, this outfit will be more than a Whole Lotta Rosie and enough to make a Jailbreak to get to Tallarook to Ride On.
For something real new, we bring you SNAKADAKTAL. The first band to be played ever on Triple J's new Unearthed station, these kids fresh from the high schools of Melbourne get their first festival break at Boogie. They say they like playing at tropical full moon dream parties. We reckon we have that covered this Easter.
Next up, Melbourne's new favourite's KING GIZZARD & THE LIZARD WIZARD. This ramshackle combo of 5,6,7 or 8 will bring their eclectic mix of blues, surf and psychedelic sounds to the forefront of your mind. Reviews of their live shows are reaching mythical heights, and they will be reaching real high next April.
A good dose of dirty rock and roll always feels good, and the BITTERSWEET KICKS are the cats to deliver this to the Boogie faithful. Their energetic live shows are renowned for leaving the stage covered in blood, sweat and broken glass after they bash their way through a solid set of chaotic action. Look out!
Getting you out of that sleeping bag will be BAPTISM OF UZI. Incorporating the influence of Neu!, Wire and Television, and inspired by the drifting lights and skyscrapers, these young men have blazed a trail through the urban sea with their space-rock juggernaut founded on motorik beats, twin-lead guitarmonies and rich analog synthscapes. Sonic solutions for us all.
Sometimes you just gotta ask, and say that you want to be the Grateful Dead. The MERRI CREEK PICKERS did just that to the Boogie website, and now all their dreams have come true. Catch this hairy six piece turning us all on to their righteous sounds. The Pickers could well be the discovery of Boogie.
And for the last act for this announcement, please welcome LOVE MIGRATE. Combining epic, soaring melodies of Sigur Ros and the bold, guitar-driven sound of the Strokes, this impressive lot present dark pop ballads in a way you've never experienced. But experience you will. Formerly known as Owl Eyes, this is a meshing of friends and bands and love, just like Boogie!
