This week sees the debut release from twenty two year old singer songwriter and producer Hayden Calnin, as well as the announcement Calnin will be joining the likes of Australia’s finest acts such as Clare Bowditch, Owl Eyes and Oliver Tank to perform at this year’s illustrious BIGSOUND Music Conference in Brisbane. Having spent the past few months knuckled down in his home studio recording his debut EP ‘City’ set for release this Friday July 20th, Calnin has announced Melbourne and Sydney launch dates in support of the release. Calnin will be playing launch shows at Melbourne’s much loved ‘Worker’s Club’ in Fitzroy on Friday August 24 with special guests Lowlakes and Tom Milek. As well as a Sydney launch date at the Kings Cross Hotel in Sydney for FBi Social on Wednesday, September 19 where he will be joined by The Falls on support. With music described as progressive folk, comparable to Bon Iver and James Blake, Calnin’s self-produced, ‘City’ is a musical documentation of his life experiences after leaving his hometown in Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula to live in inner city Melbourne. Showcasing intricate layers of ‘folktronic’ production, honest storytelling and vocals that swing between tip toeing falsettos and warm, husky tones, the EP features Hayden’s latest single, ‘For My Help’ and will be available digitally worldwide with limited physical copies available at shows.
