Theatre of the World @ Museum Of Old And New Art (MONA)

Description:

Australia's largest collaboration between a private and public institution, Theatre of the World explores 4000 years of creativity and features over 160 works from David Walsh's private collection and approximately 300 objects from the Tasmanian State Collection, showcased in 16 galleries at MONA.

The focus is on looking.

Weave through the labyrinth galleries, and revel in the resonance between the sediments of different times and places.

Theatre of the World is a MONA and TMAG collaboration, curated by Jean-Hubert Martin.

We never know the truth by being told it. We have to experience it in some way. That is the abiding grace of history. It is the theatre in which we experience truth. - Greg Dening, Performances, 1996

All things are one thing and that one thing is, in turn, obvious and exotic and beautiful and plain and elegant and prosaic and deep and shallow and rich with a richness that makes all things grand. - David Walsh, 2012
