See Major Badcoe's medals on display to celebrate ANZAC Day. The display includes Major Badcoe's Victoria Cross medal, along with letters of citation, personal photographs and other items. The Badcoe collection contains letters, awards, citations, photographs, newspaper articles, medals, an audio tape recording, and aerogrammes and their transcriptions that document his military deployment in Vietnam. The collection can be accessed here. Major Badcoe was born Peter John Badcock on 11 January 1934. His nickname, Galloping Major, was given to him because he was always on the go. A decorated military man, he was killed in action on 7 April 1967, 108 days before he was due to return home to his family.
