More than 180 bird species have been recorded at Sydney Olympic Park, making it an excellent choice for bird watching opportunities without even leaving the city. The size of the Park and its diverse habitats support migratory, nomadic and resident birds of all colours, sizes and shapes. Shrubby areas provide habitat for small woodland birds, such as the Superb Fairy Wren, Double-barred Finch, Spotted Pardalote, Grey Fantail and Brown Honeyeater. The riverside walkway is a good place to spot White-bellied Sea-eagles. Scan the skies over grassy areas for birds of prey such as the Black-shouldered Kite and Nankeen Kestrel.
