Within & Without looks at the way in which artists have explored interior environments through the placement of figures and objects; their means of representing personalities and self; their translations of exteriors and enclosures, as well as their depictions of nocturnes and scenes not quite inside or out. The exhibition includes over 50 key paintings and drawings from the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery’s collection, and features works from the Colonial to contemporary periods. The works have been selected to convey a wide range of artistic interpretations and interactions within places and spaces.
