An exhibition of new artworks by Tyler Faulstich that draw on the human figure in multiple representations and capacities to investigate the term Carrying Capacity – or how many people can an environment support. Partly a response to human population recently surpassing 7 billion, this body of work seeks to dissect the inherently complex issue of global population dynamics into simplified renditions of human geography. As a starting point, the human form is used as a common building block from which the artwork is constructed. Consisting of mostly drawings, the work explores the possibilities of the human form compositionally as well as towards the theme of Carrying Capacity. Competition and community, reliance on resources, tipping points and spatial patterns are investigated.
