See international tennis at its best on Geelong turf when some of Australia’s tennis stars take on China. Australia and China will resume battle just months after their Asia Oceania semi-final on an indoor hard court in Beijing in July which the Australians won 3-1. It was a highly competitive contest with China’s Wu Di winning the opening rubber over Marinko Matosevic and Bernard Tomic levelling the contest with a four set win over Zhang Ze. In stepped Lleyton Hewitt, first pairing with Chris Guccione for a doubles victory and then backing up for the reverse singles to put Zhang Ze away in four tough sets. The February contest will be the first round of the Asia Oceania Group with the Australian team back on their beloved grass. Australia is looking toward a talent-laden team including the likes of Hewitt, Tomic, Matosevic and Guccione to take that next step toward a World Group Playoff in September. Final teams will be announced prior to the tie.
